In these parts the road runner is known as the "Paisano" ..... we saw two ....... meep, meep !!!
Marathon, Texas

This is a view of the Chisos Mountains from the ruins of a 1930's ranch which was operated by a guy named Sam Nails.

The remains of Sam Nail's adobe house. Again, looking back at the Chisos.
This is mere yards from the Rio Grande and Mexico looking North at some original park out buildings.
You are looking at the Santa Elena Canyon which the Rio Grande runs through. On your Right, America. On your left, Mexico.
This was a bit of a let down. It turned out the Rio Grande is more like the Rio Poco. Of course Amber informs that the river is much "Grander" somewhere down the line. In case it has'nt grabbed you yet... that's Mexico about 12 feet to my left.

Here is a lovely cactus perched about 600 ft above the Rio, which is pretty much straight down.
Looking west headed towards Presidio, Texas.
As I was mumbling "That rock looks like... like an Elephant" Amber was reading aloud the sign that called this "Elephant Rock"
She completes me ??? LOL !!! (somewhere between Presidio and Marfa)

This was dinner... very good dinner. And who cares if it's John Madden's favorite food in Van Horn. Johnny and June Cash ate there twice. That was plenty good for us.

We leave you with our kind of trailer trash ! Terlingua, Texas
